UTEPO PoE Solution for healthcare

There are plenty of useful applications for PoE technology in the healthcare industry, especially when coupled with the Internet of Things (IoT). Rather than having to install both a power and data cable for every device on the network, Powered Devices (PDs) can be operated with just a single PoE cable. UTEPO provides a full range of PoE switches and managed switches to help solve many of the networking issues healthcare facilities face today.

Challenges

The healthcare industry faces many obstacles, specifically with regards to IT and networking. Today, IT personnel in the healthcare industry are tasked with:

Ensuring patient privacy

Using energy efficient hardware

Leverage technology for a competitive advantage

Boost overall network performance

PoE Benefits

Luckily, PoE solves many of the problems listed above. Power over Ethernet is a powerful tool – it is scalable, flexible, efficient, secure, and best of all, it’s cheaper than traditional networking alternatives.

UTEPO also recommended deploying UTP7624GE-POE-L3 managed switches for aggregating data from the VLAN segments. The UTP7624GE-POE-L3 switches intelligently recognize network segments with Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and provide optimized data transmission and routing across the large and complex network topology.

UTEPO’s UTP7216E-POE-L2 / UTP7224E-POE-L2 L2 managed Ethernet switches were employed to receive the data from the PoE switches connected to the cameras.

The UTP7624GE-POE-L3 was ready for 10G SFP+ connectivity for uplink to the core switch (UTP7624GS-L3), NVR, or NAS storage. For example, at the administration center for the facility, the NAS received all data from the NVR via the UTP7624GE-POE-L3, allowing security personnel to instantly access and monitor important footage from NVR or directly from an IP camera.

Advantages

IEEE 802.3 af/at Power over Ethernet compliance, powering up the cameras via CAT5 or better Ethernet cable.

Can be configured and reset by a web browser, saving maintenance time.

Network redundancy with low failover time.

Supports Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) configuration.

Plan out VLAN segments specifically for each department in the major buildings. This allowed each network segment to work independently without cross-interference.
